Find a lawyer
You can often save time and money by tackling simple legal problems yourself, using our wide range of DIY kits, books, forms and software.
But we can only offer you general guidance and information on the law. We cannot give you personal legal advice. Sometimes there's no substitute for professional advice from a qualified lawyer. You may know of a good lawyer through your family or friends, but if not, we can help you find one.
You can use these websites to choose a solicitor either:
By location
- find a lawyer in your local town, or
By speciality
- find a lawyer who specialises, for example in housing problems, or divorce law.

Save time and money by being prepared
Before you consult a lawyer, make sure that you have all your facts in order. Collect everything together and bring your paperwork to the first meeting. The more facts and relevant information you can give your solicitor, the quicker and better he can help you. A lawyer's time can be expensive, so you can cut your bills by doing the homework in advance. Several of the Legal Store products will help you understand the issues and get your information in order before you see a solicitor.
Do you need a lawyer?
You should certainly consult a lawyer in any of these five cases:
You have a serious or urgent legal issue. Some problems can become serious if they are not tackled in good time.
You are not confident that you can solve the problem yourself.
You prefer to talk to a professional. Sometimes it's easier to share a problem.
A large sum of money or an important contract is at stake
A legal issue is not straightforward and the solution is not clear to you.
If in doubt, always seek help.
